My Christian Testimony!
My testimony isn't dramatic like some are but it's just as real and genuine. I want to share it with you now. First of all, I was raised in a Christian home. Both of my parents were devoted Christians! My mama, Sylvia Carpenter, went Home to be with Jesus on Jan. 22, 2025. My daddy, George Carpenter, is still living and loving our Jesus. Thank you, Jesus!!! My family was at church every Sunday morning and night, and Wednesday nights, unless we were sick or out of town. Every summer, we attended VBS!!! Yes, VBS is a very important church ministry. Our (my 3 siblings, George, Glenda, and Chris) parents not only took us to church but also lived a Godly life before us.
It was on July 1st, 1969, when I accepted Jesus in my heart to be my Lord and Saviour. That was the best and most important decision of my life!!!! I was attending VBS at my home church, Monticello Baptist Church, in Monticello, Ms, that week. Our youth director, Tim Rayborn, shared a story about the Trinity, in our classroom. That was when I felt the Holy Spirit really speaking to me. That was on a Friday. After it was over, my mama came to pick me up. She noticed I looked like I had something on my mind and heart. Yes, mama's are good at that. Of course, so are daddy's. I told her and she asked if I wanted to go talk to our pastor, Bro. Kenneth Roberts. I said YES!! So, she drove around the front parking lot, parked, and went with me. Bro. Roberts talked a few mins and asked me a few questions, and then I prayed, repenting and asking for forgiveness of my sins, and asking Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I was so peaceful and joyful at that moment. STILL AM!!!
Since then, I've gone on 2 mission trips (Arizona in 1976 and Mississippi Choctaw Reservation in 1990). I'm still friends with some of the Navajo Indians we met over there. One of them (Pauline Littleman) taught some of us how to sing a hymn (verse 1) in Navajo language. I still remember the words. Thankyou, Pauline!! The MS trip was very meaningful but the Arizona trip was unforgettable!! I might even share about the trip on one of my future blog posts. In the past I taught VBS and Sunday School. I'm not bragging, just sharing, because I'm doing this because I feel God wants me to. This is for HIM, not me!!!
I've gone through mountains and valleys through my Christian years (56) but everyone does. My valleys have made me stronger. When I'm going through my valleys, I ask the Lord to guide, help, and teach me something. Although, I love to talk, my boldness to share the Gospel hasn't been present. Sad to say!!! BUT ever since Charles Kirk was assassinated for his faith in Jesus, I have felt the Holy Spirit speaking to me. I love Jesus and I'm not ashamed to share His Gospel and my testimony. I mentioned this in my last blog.
Yesterday in Sunday School, our lesson was about the Greatest Gift of all...Jesus Christ and Salvation through his death and resurrection. I've received lots of great gifts in my time, such as my husband, children, grandchildren, other family members, friends, and material gifts. My salvation and relationship with Jesus is the greatest one of all! I'm so glad that God loves us so much that He sent his only begotten son to save us! Again, Thankyou, God!!
I would love to hear from y'all!! Don't be shy!! If you don't want others to read your comments, you can message me. Have a wonderful week!! GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!
God bless You,
Vickie
