Trying To Get Healthier

Hello!!  I'm a day late but I'm here!!! I had a lot of distractions and family obligations yesterday so I wasn't able to post. I'm not complaining because my family is very important to me. Plus, it gave me more time to think about my topic this week.  My dear hubby has an infected wound on his foot.

In my Welcome blog, I stated that I want to be a living sacrifice for my Lord. That includes not only my Spiritual life, but also my physical, mental, and emotional ones as well.  I haven't done a very good job though. But, now I'm trying very hard to be healthy in all areas. I want to blog on an area once every week.  For example, lastweek, I spoke about my Spiritual life. This week, I'm writing about my physical life. Next week I'll write about my mental (learning, attitudes, passions, and hobbies). Then the next will be my emotional life. But I won't just write about my life but try to give tidbits of advice.

Physical health is very important.  Exercise, good nutrition, drinking plenty of water, washing your hands, and getting plenty of rest are great habits to practice daily. When I don't exercise, my clothes are tight. If I don't eat proper, I'm not very productive. I probably have the cleanest hands in the country as much as I wash them, especially lately.  I'm still coughing from having bronchitis and taking my husband to the doctor. Germs, Germs, Germs!!! Speaking of rest... I decided a couple weeks ago to start going to bed at 9:00 everynight. I get up every morning about 5:45. Since I've been doing that, I'm feeling so much better physically and mentally. I plan to keep that new habit!!! I've also been trying to drink more water.  I'm also doing the Intermittent Fasting lifestyle.  If you're interested in Intermittent Fasting, let me know and I'll do my best to help. I mentioned IF in  2 or 3 earlier posts (2020, I think).

Well, my tablet is wanting to act contrary so I'm gonna bring this post to a close for now. If you try to comment and it won't let you, please let me know. I was having that issue lastweek. I hope I corrected it. I've blogged on and off but this time I'm trying to learn more about it and making it a great , successful blog.  Next week, I'll post a surprise, so come back for a visit!!!  If the Lord leads me to write extra posts during the week, I'll share on Facebook.  Have a good night!!!

When God Speaks...

When God Speaks....    Sometimes we listen and obey.  Sometimes we make excuses. Sometimes we ignore God. Sometimes we wonder if it's us or God speaking. With me, it's been all of these at different times of my life. But I'm so thankful God didn't give up on me.  Actually, I believe He has prepared me for His Mission through my Bible studies, church worship, prayers and other means.  I have been feeling God really getting my attention recently. I've had a lot of downtime while recovering from the flu, which ended up in bronchitis. I'm trusting God to heal me though.

I've always been interested in helping children learn to read. I homeschooled my children most of their school life and some of my grandchildren. They can read very well now. Last year , out youngest grandchild, Jr, fell behind in his sight words and AR reading in K5. We didn't think he would even pass. But of course, with my background of homeschooling, and God's nudging me, I knew he could catch up with my help. Afterall, he was doing great in everything else. Sure, as a kid, he said he didn't care if he failed or not. I told him that when my siblings and I were going to school, that we didn't have the option of caring. Either we studied or paid the consequences. That's a whole story in itself.  So, I told him, I was gonna help him and we both would work hard. Our hard work paid off!! He learned all of his sight words and read all his AR books before school was even finished. Of course, he had a great teacher too. Thankyou, Amanda Hughey!  God gave me the gift to do that, but I gave , still do, God all the credit. Jr also received a lot of awards and scored really high on the STAR test. So proud of him. This year (1st grade) he's reading great and making all A's!!!

I believe God is calling me to finish the 2 books I've written and write more children's books to help with illiteracy. Who knows what else God leads me to in this area. I've been making excuses for not writing but no more!! I'm trusting God with the whole process. It's very daunting, to say the least.  I will continue with my blogging , for writing practice.

Please keep me in your prayers and if you'd like to leave a comment, I'd love to hear from my readers/followers. Yeah, I plan to learn more about blogging too. God will help me though. I trust him with every step!!!

Reflecting on 2021

Reflecting on 2021, makes me aware of good times and bad times. Actually, I'm thankful for both. I believe that the bad times have helped me grow in my faith. I'm so thankful for the good times too though!! My mama fell twice this year, but I was able to spend a lot of time with her and helping her and my family. I still am and enjoying doing so. It's kept me away from my immediate family but I am so grateful that they understand.  It's also given me time to reflect on the past and think about the present and future.  I believe my personal problems are a result of selfishness and pride. I really feel that God has revealed that to me through my Bible studies this past year. I don't like myself when I'm being selfish. Oh, how Satan works overtime with God's children. I don't want that!!! I want to be selfless, not selfish. I've been working on Philippians 2:3-4 this week...... "Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in loneliness of mine let each esteem other better than themselves.  Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others." (KJV).   I've also been praying more but I need to pray even more so!!!!  I want a closer relationship with Jesus.

Selfishness is looking out only for oneself and not others. That doesn't sound like a Christian attribute to me. I found a good website about Selfishness. I'll post the link at the end of this post in case you'd like to read it. Even though I've been trying hard to not be selfish, it still happens, but I'm working on it everyday.  I'm trusting God to help me!  Many times I recognize selfishness in other people's actions but when I think about it, I do the same thing.  I've asked for forgiveness and striving hard to do better!

Have a blessed day!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

It's a new year, folks!!! 2022!!!  The last year has come and gone with blessings. Thank you, Jesus!!! This time of year is good for self-reflection and self-improvement. Some people will make new year resolutions. I try not to call them that. Self-improvement works for me! I want to improve for my Saviour though.

Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking. Selfishness is a character trait I have, that I'm very ashamed of.  God has revealed this to me.  Since I'll be working on improving myself,  my selfish attitude definitely needs to go!!!  This month I plan to study about what God tells us about Selfishness. I will post and memorize some Scripture too!! Prayer is also a must!!! I love my Jesus and I want Him as my focus!! I also want to be obedient! I hope y'all will follow along this month.  If you have any questions and/or comments, please add. I'd love to hear what you think.

I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed year!!!!

Love,

Vickie Berryhill

"Rome Wasn't Built In A Day!"

Have you ever heard of that expression? I'm sure you have!!  It's Spring and I'm loving it. It's time to plant, springclean, and organize. Oh yeah, CRAFTING too!!!  😂 I'm still in the process of organizing my crafts. Most days I wonder if I can get it done all in one day. Ha!  Who am I kidding? Right?  Well, this phrase I used as this post title, comes to my mind a lot....ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY. I definitely get a lot of good information from utube videos on organizing. I'm also gonna put a good motivational tip to use.....JUST DO IT!!!!

Ok, so now I close this post to exercise and shower. It's been a beautiful and  great productive day and I plan  to start back going to bed early.  If you have any motivation tips, PLEASE SHARE!!!  Have a great night!!!

Such A Dreary But Yet Joyful Day!!!

Today , here in my southwest Miss corner, I look outside and frown from all the dreary weather. And more on the way!!!  But I don't stay in that frame of mind.  I got busy and joyful!!  I've been crafting this morning, trying an experiment with the photo paper that my cousin, Fay, gave me. I love paper crafts so I made some greeting card fronts today. My grandchildren, Carly and Jr, helped me make this Monday. So today, I've made more. Wouldn't you just know it....I love paper crafts (paper flowers, magnets, gift tags,  and greeting cards) and my Daddy is a retired (42 years) paper maker!! Fitting...right?!!!! Lol. I even worked at the paper mill one summer during my college years. I just used photo paper , distressed ink, water, and water.the  So much fun!!!

Worrying Is Like A Rocking Chair...."

A long time ago, I woke up one night from a nightmare. It upset me so much that I couldn't go back to sleep.  I was visiting my sister and brother-in-law at the time. I guess she heard me tossing and turning. I don't remember what the nightmare was about though.
After I probably told her what I dreamed, she could tell I was very worried.  She then told me something that has stayed with me since.....that WORRYING IS LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR. IT GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO DO BUT DOESN'T GET YOU ANYWHERE. It makes a lot of sense too!!! I've shared this advice with others through the years.

There's another gem of advice that I'd like to share.  It's even better than the first. It comes from Scripture... "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.". Philippe 4:6 KJV
I believe this is talking about Not Worrying. To me, worrying means we don't trust God in situations. I quit worrying and went back to sleep that night but I've caught myself worrying many times in the past.

I then remember this verse and stop fretting. I also feel like our faith helps keeping us from worrying. This past year of 2020 has been awful but I am thankful because my faith in God has grown.

My dear husband, Bubba, had to have a procedure done on his left leg last month. Thankfully, his problem (blocked artery) didn't require surgery!!!  Plus, because of Covid-19, I wasn't allowed to be up there with him. But throughout the whole orderal, I never worried because I had complete faith in God!!! Yeah, things could have gone bad, But I still would have kept my faith!! I did pray along with others and for that I'm very grateful.

I believe my faith grew from daily Bible study and prayer, and through my trials. I hope you, my readers, will pray and trust (have faith) God  instead of worrying this year and every year!!

I apologize for not writing recently. I have been very busy!!  I will try to do better!!

Happy New Year!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉💖💖💖💖💖
